SOFTBALL STAYS HOT, BASEBALL LOOKS TO BOUNCE BACK

It was a strong week on the diamond for the softball program, as they picked up two impressive county victories over larger classification opponents, while baseball continues to search for momentum heading into a rematch with Camden. Softball delivered a pair of standout performances, beginning with a dominant 5-0 win over 4A Camden. The headline of the night belonged to Mackenzie Melton, who was nearly untouchable in the circle, throwing a no-hitter and shutting down Camden’s offense from start to finish. Melton controlled the game with confidence, keeping hitters off balance and allowing her defense to stay locked in behind her. The momentum carried over into their next matchup, where softball knocked off 5A Lugoff-Elgin 5-1. Taking down back-to-back opponents from higher classifications underscores just how strong this team has been all season. With consistent pitching, timely hitting, and solid defense, the group has built an impressive 12-3 record and is quickly establishing itself as a serious contender. On the baseball side, it was a tougher outing earlier in the week. The team fell to Camden 10-0 on Tuesday night, struggling to get things going both offensively and on the mound. Despite the setback, there’s an immediate opportunity to respond, as they face Camden again tonight in a quick turnaround matchup. Sitting at 3-13 on the season, baseball is looking to regroup and find a spark as the season progresses. A strong showing in the rematch could provide a much-needed boost and shift momentum moving forward. As softball continues its surge and baseball aims to rebound, all eyes remain on tonight’s action against Camden.
